Handshake provides a job platform for college students and recent graduates, connecting them to companies through their colleges. I joined Handshake to lead the exploration of a northstar concept for their Job Creation experience.

To begin, I conducted research and facilitated workshops to establish the project's direction. With a clear understanding of the goals and objectives, I focused on reimagining the user experience with new, user-first flows and updated design patterns. By emphasizing user needs and applying a design thinking approach, I was able to create a compelling and intuitive experience that aligned with the vision of the Handshake platform.

Upon joining Handshake, I identified large gaps in the existing research. I conducted a competitive analysis, experience audit and affinity sorting exercise to better understand the knowledge gaps around the project.

This helped to answer many open questions before proceeding into the concepting phase.

Revising the flow

I reviewed the various fields and features in the Job Creation experience and based on the research, reorganized them to improve the flow's comprehensibility. As a result, a user-friendly flow was developed that is both simpler and easier to follow.

Content framework

A major problem identified in the research was that users were confused by some fields and didn't understand the value of others.

To better communicate the needs and values of the experience, I outlined a framework that would allow content to be seen at different levels to provide proper context and instruction when needed.

I refreshed each component and element throughout the flow to be more consistent and visually pleasing. This particular view is the first step in the Job Creation flow which introduces users to the process and sets expectations for the following sections.
